What is CalC02?
CalC02 is an online tool that supports users in calculating their carbon emissions on the basis of data they collect. Its data-centric, formula-based approach provides the greatest possible accuracy and brings focus to user specific activities. CalC02 further allows users to log their emissions on a monthly basis and keep a diary of their footprint evolution. CalC02 collects donations which it passes on to a handful of carefully vetted start-ups and NGOs which engage in sustainable carbon offsetting.
OUR VISION
We believe that fighting climate change is everyone's responsibility at a personal level and we see a world where global citizens will be actively and continuously monitoring and managing their individual carbon footprint.
OUR MISSION
We are on a mission to raise awareness on the climate emergency by focusing on the carbon footprint of each single global citizen at an individual level.
We are working for CalC02 to become a tool that supports its users in calculating with a high level of accuracy their carbon emissions and in keeping records of their carbon footprint, thus understanding its key drivers and taking action to reduce it.
OUR JOURNEY
In the summer of 2021 after reading Bill Gates' Book "How to avoid a climate disaster" we were alarmed by the scale and complexity of the challenge. We set out to measure our own personal emissions on a monthly basis with a goal to create a yearly breakdown. What started as a manual and intensive method for a school project, was accelerated by the development of our calc02 calculation algorithm, which made data processing and some statistical analysis easier and faster. In our bid to help others, we launched www.calc02.com in fall 2022, setting off on journey to highlight personal responsibility in overcoming the climate crisis.
